Should I Do a 4 day or a 5 Day Scuba Course?

We get asked this regularly here at the old pickle factory and the answer is pretty simple. We specialise in arranging all tours, reef cruises and Cairns Accommodation , however as a avid diver myself, I always look after Scuba Diving in Cairns and Cairns Learn to Dive patrons. I usually leave the annoying hotel accommodation and rainforest bookings to my staff.

If you have time and money I highly advise you to do the 5 day course. You are only going to do this once in your life, so why scrimp.

It’s sort of like doing a course and dive trip combined into one.

With a four day course you’ll do 4 dives, which is the minimum requirement to pass your dive qualification. They will all be “learning dives”.

A five day course will mostly give you nine dives. Now the first 4 are training dives but for the next 5 dives you are a qualified scubadiver. One of these usually is also a nighttime dive. Another advantage is that the dives will be with the other learner divers from your class who have comparable skill levels as you.

So the next dive cruise you do after finishing your course you will have already experienced five solo scubadives and be that little bit more skilled and confident.

Also the price per dive is almost .

You may even want to upgrade your scuba course into a 6 day learn to dive course and get an advanced scuba divers qualification, but thats next post.

So I hope I’ve helped all you prospective Scuba Divers out there.
